Ben and Dad prepare for a Mid-Autumn gathering by making a paper moon, setting out mooncakes, and saving an extra chair and plate for the moon. Family arrives, but clouds hide the sky, so everyone imagines funny reasons the moon might be late.
Theo and Aunt Jo turn the sofa into a pretend birthday boat and sail across a carpet sea. They pass cushion clouds, sock-fish, tickly reeds, and a sleeping giant’s knee-bridge before landing on an ice cream island.
At bedtime, Luca and Grandpa follow a ribbon of sunset up cloud stairs into the sky. Together they roll up the sunset, untangle a starry sky bear, fold the leftover clouds, and help the moon settle down.
